Large-Size DIY Window Screen — Pet-Proof & Mosquito/Insect-Resistant

Keep fresh air in and bugs out—without sacrificing durability. This oversized DIY window screen uses pet-resistant mesh (thicker, tear-resistant fibers) to stand up to curious cats, energetic dogs, and everyday wear while blocking mosquitoes and common insects. Cut it to size, mount it in minutes, and enjoy breezy, bite-free rooms.

Why you’ll love it

  • Pet-proof durability: Heavy-duty, claw-resistant mesh resists tears better than standard fiberglass screens.

  • Bug barrier: Tight, even weave helps stop mosquitoes, flies, gnats, and other small insects.

  • Custom fit: Large sheet trims cleanly to your exact window size—perfect for unique or oversized frames.

  • Easy DIY install: Simple tools; install with a spline-and-frame kit, adhesive/magnetic strips, or hook-and-loop—your choice.

  • Great visibility & airflow: Dark mesh maintains outward visibility while allowing ample ventilation.

  • All-season use: UV- and weather-resistant materials for long-lasting performance.

What’s included

  • 1 × Large mesh sheet (pet-resistant)

  • Optional mounting options (varies by selection):

    • Frame & spline kit or

    • Magnetic/adhesive mounting strip or

    • Hook-and-loop tape set

Select the option that best matches your window style. If you already have a frame, choose mesh-only.

Recommended uses

  • Standard sliding windows, casement and awning windows, RV/camper windows, basement hoppers, balcony doors with auxiliary frames, screened porches, and pet areas.

Sizing & trimming

  • Measure the inside of your frame (width × height).

  • Add 2–3 cm / ~1" on each side for trimming and tension.

  • Cut with sharp scissors or a utility knife on a flat surface.

  • For framed installs, leave slight extra mesh to roll into the spline channel.

Installation (quick guide)

  1. Prep: Clean the window frame; dry thoroughly.

  2. Cut: Trim the mesh slightly larger than the opening.

  3. Mount:

    • Frame kit: Lay mesh over frame, press spline into channel with a roller, then trim excess.

    • Magnetic/adhesive: Apply strips to frame, press mesh evenly; trim and tidy edges.

    • Hook-and-loop: Stick loop side to frame, press mesh (hook side) to secure; adjust as needed.

  4. Test: Open/close the window to confirm clearance; smooth any wrinkles for best visibility.

Materials & specs

  • Mesh type: Pet-resistant synthetic fiber (thicker strands than standard fiberglass)

  • Weave: Tight, uniform; optimized for airflow + insect resistance

  • Color: Charcoal/dark (best for visibility)

  • Resistance: UV-fade resistant, water-resistant, easy to wipe clean

  • Cut-to-size: No edge fray when trimmed correctly

Care & maintenance

  • Vacuum with a soft brush or rinse with low-pressure water.

  • For sticky residue, wipe with mild soap and water; avoid harsh solvents.

  • Inspect quarterly for loose corners if using adhesive/magnetic tapes.

Tips for pet owners

  • For heavy scratchers, consider frame + spline (strongest hold).

  • Keep a spare off-cut for quick patching.

  • Mount on the inside where possible to reduce direct clawing.
